Pegasus Systems Now Powering Reservations
for 24 Hotel Chains

DALLAS, Jan. 28, 199 -  Dallas-based Pegasus Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS) today announced it is "powering" seven more hotel chain Web sites with its booking functionality, enabling the sites to accept real- time hotel reservations from consumers around the world. With the addition of these seven Web sites, Pegasus is now powering 24 hotel chain Web sites. Pegasus Systems is a leading provider of hotel industry electronic commerce and transaction processing solutions.

The seven Web sites represent more than 4,400 hotels that span the upscale, limited-service and extended-stay lodging segments. The hotel Web sites recently "Powered by Pegasus(TM)" include:

  • Best Western Hotels: http:/www.bestwestern.com
  • Destination Hotels and Resorts:http:/www.destinationtravel.com
  • Hyatt Hotels and Resorts: http:/www.hyatt.com
  • La Quinta Inns and Suites: http:/www.laquinta.com
  • Prime Hospitality's AmeriSuites:http:/www.amerisuites.com
  • W Hotels: http:/www.whotels.com
  • Westin Hotels and Resorts: http:/www.westin.com
By being "Powered by Pegasus(TM)," a hotel company's Web site gains seamless access to the hotel's central reservation system, providing real-time rates, availability and booking capabilities to Web site visitors.

"As Internet hotel bookings continue to grow, hotels are clamoring to establish their own proprietary Web sites for their brand-loyal customers. Pegasus enables hotel companies to quickly and effectively implement Internet booking capabilities without making pricey technology investments, such as the necessary ongoing upgrades to hardware and Internet connectivity," said John F. Davis III, president and chief executive officer of Pegasus Systems. "The phenomenal level of interest we're seeing from hoteliers wanting their Web sites 'Powered by Pegasus' is reflective of this trend."

These seven hotel brands are also bookable through Pegasus' online distribution network, which includes travel reservations Web sites such as Pegasus' TravelWeb(R) (www.travelweb.com), Preview Travel and Microsoft's Expedia.com.

According to the Travel Industry Association, TravelWeb is one of the six "mega-sites" that account for 75 percent of all travel-related sales on the Internet. During the first nine months of 1998, Internet hotel bookings made through TravelWeb and the sites that are part of Pegasus' online distribution network resulted in more than $100 million in hotel room sales, an increase of 269 percent over the same period in 1997. By the year 2003, travel reservations made online are expected to exceed $29 billion, according to Forrester Research.
