International Association of Conference Centers (IACC)  to Meet at Resort at Squaw Creek

SQUAW VALLEY, USA - February 23, 1999 -  Conference center professionals from around the world will converge at the award-winning Resort at Squaw Creek for the  18th Annual International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) Conference:  IACC 2000:  Forging New Frontiers, April 10-14, 1999.   Peter Ueberroth, former commissioner of Major League Baseball and guiding force behind the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, will be the keynote speaker.

IACC, a not-for-profit organization, was founded to promote a greater awareness and understanding of the unique features of conference centers.   IACC is the single resource for continuing education and training for conference center professionals.  In addition to the highly acclaimed educational component of the annual conference, IACC-North America offers workshops specifically geared to the development, operation and marketing of conference centers throughout the year.

Only bona fide conference centers which meet the 27 stringent standards of IACCs Universal Criteria are accepted as members of the organization.  These criteria ensure superior quality in the product and service offered by IACC-member facilities such as the Resort at Squaw Creek.

Former baseball commissioner, Peter Ueberroth will share his experiences, philosophy and insights with IACC conferees.  In 1963, Ueberroth built the second largest travel business in North America, First Travel Corporation.  He presided over the recruitment of unparalleled corporate support for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, then became the sixth commissioner of Major League Baseball.  Currently, Ueberroth sits on several boards of directors, including the Promus Hotel Corporation and Coca Cola.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is pleased to host top meeting and conference center professionals, said Dan Dolan, director of sales and marketing at the Resort at Squaw Creek.  This is an opportunity to expose the international convention and meeting industry to our region and what makes it a desirable business destination.
