The World Food Media Awards represent an attempt to give due credit to all  the major branches of the food and beverage media. In 1997 more than 150  entries were received from around the globe, from North America, Canada,  the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Africa, Southern Europe and Asia.

These prestigious awards, fondly known as "The Ladles", will be presented  for the following categories for Bronze, Silver and Gold :

Television

  *  Best Television Food Show
  *  Best Television Food Segment within a show
  *  Best Television Wine Show or Segment

Print, Photography and Interactive Section

  *  Best Food Book
  *  Best Recipe Book
  *  Best Wine Book
  *  Best Food Magazine
  *  Best Wine Magazine
  *  Best Food and/or Wine Section in a Newspaper or Magazine
  *  Best Food and/or Beverage Photography
  *  Best Food and/or Beverage CD-Rom or Internet Website

Radio Section

  *  Best Radio Food and Wine Show or Segment

Interest in the awards in their 1997 inaugural year was outstanding with entries from 65 television 
programmes from 30 countries, 100 books from 25 publishing houses, and photography from all major food and wine publications.

Tasting Australia -a biennial international food, wine and beverage festival held in South Australia to showcase the nation's finest foods and beverages to the world's food professionals, the media and epicures.
