Details $5.3 Million Renovation

MONTGOMERY, Ala., Nov. 19, 1998 -  After a comprehensive $5.3 million renovation, the Holiday Inn-Montgomery East I-85 is once again a highlight of the city.

A landmark facility in Montgomery, the Holiday Inn East has received a total make over to its exterior, as well as extensive upgrades and added amenities in the rooms and common areas to accommodate both business and leisure guests.

Construction on the hotel, located at 1185 Eastern Bypass, began in May. Extensive improvements to the property's interior included changes to the lobby, lounge areas, guest rooms, banquet and meeting rooms, and Holidome Indoor Recreation Facility.

"All 213 rooms were completely remodeled," said Wade Henderson, general manager of the hotel. "Every room was stripped down to the concrete and made new."

New carpet, cherry furniture, armoires, draperies and bedspreads have been installed in each room. Bathrooms were upgraded with new tile. Full-sized ironing boards, irons, coffee makers and hair dryers have been added to every room. Every room features two phones and an easy-access computer connection.

Other changes include a floor-to-ceiling renovation of the lobby and lounge. "The lobby and lounge do not resemble their previous form in any way. We have doubled the size of the lobby and refurbished it with a rich look geared toward the corporate guest," Henderson said.

With the addition of two meeting rooms, the Holiday Inn now offers guests 7,000 square feet of meeting space over six rooms, including a board room and a new large pre-function area for exhibits and trade shows. Improvements to the Holidome(R) Indoor Recreation Facility include the addition of e-space(TM), a state-of-the-art electronic entertainment area with interactive video games. The Holidome boasts an assortment of big-screen television riding and other interactive video games, as well as two new pool tables and other traditional games.

The Holiday Inn East is the only hotel in the city featuring such a comprehensive recreation facility, including an indoor heated pool. "We will be the hotel of choice for families traveling to Montgomery this winter holiday season," Henderson said.

The hotel's renovation is a part of Bass Hotels Resorts' billion and a half dollar modernization program of all Holiday Inns nationwide. Initiated in 1994, the program provides for upgrades and renovations to exteriors, public areas and guest rooms. The program is a "rolling" initiative, which will effectively rejuvenate the entire Holiday Inn system every seven years.

The Holiday Inn-Montgomery East I-85 is operated by Dallas-based Bristol Hotels Resorts (NYSE: BH) and owned by FelCor Lodging Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of FelCor Lodging Trust (NYSE: FCH).
