Peter Wabbel Appointed Executive Chef at 
Doubletree Hotel Austin, TX
 
AUSTIN, Texas - Nov. 2, 1998-The Doubletree Hotel Austin has named Peter Wabbel to the position of Executive Chef. With 22 years in the restaurant business, Chef Wabbel is a highly experienced executive -- and a creative food artist.

Previously, he was Souse Chef for the Sagamore Omni Resort, Executive Chef for the Omni Austin Hotel and Vice President of Le Chef College in Austin, Texas.

Wabbel was born and raised in West Germany and has an expanding knowledge of international foods. He has taught Culinary courses at the Adirondack Community College in New York, Le Chef College in Austin, and is the Culinary Arts Director and Instructor for Bowie High School in Austin. Wabbel has taught several cooking classes in Central Market, Messina Hof and the Texas Wine Festival. He has also appeared on the television program "Austin Closeup."

Wabbel earned his Certified Masters Degree from Verband der Koche in Frankfurt, Germany. He is an active member of several prestigious culinary associations including the American Culinary Federation and serves as vice president of the local chapter of the Capitol of Texas Chefs Association.

Wabbel is also the recipient of several awards, including Best Continental and International Food in Austin, and the silver medal for his accomplishments at the American Culinary Federation Hot Foods Competition.
