Five Mirage Resorts, Inc. Properties Go Live With Baan Company's CODA-Financials
450 Users Up and Running with Enterprise Financial System In Eight Months

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 16, 1998 -  Baan Company N.V. (Nasdaq: BAANF), a leading provider of global business software, today announced that Mirage Resorts, Incorporated, a national parent company for luxury entertainment resorts, has gone live at each of its five hotel/casino properties in Nevada with Baan CODA-Financials as its enterprise-wide financial accounting application. Mirage Resorts was able to implement the accounting and reporting system on Windows NT/SQL Server in five separate property locations, including the newly opened Bellagio in Las Vegas, with two of the sites completing their implementations in under 120 days.

With Baan CODA-Financials system in place, companies within Mirage's network of luxury resorts are able to maintain their reporting and automate labor-intensive inter-company and allocation processes, such as tracking transactions between various Mirage Resorts properties. Baan CODA-Financials is fully integrated with Mirage's existing Inventory/Purchasing and Payroll systems using the CODA-Link integration tool set in each of its properties.

"We required a very rapid implementation-our first two properties needed to go live within 120 days," said Kay Whitaker, director of product strategy for Mirage Resorts, Incorporated. "Baan CODA-Financials' high degree of flexibility allowed the implementation team to replicate our current environment and quickly deliver a system that can keep pace with our growing business requirements. With Baan CODA-Financials, we were able to adapt the system to our needs, minimize implementation costs, and go live without delay."

Bellagio completed its implementation of Baan CODA-Financials on Microsoft's SQL Server prior to the hotel's October gala grand opening. Bellagio offers 3,000 guest rooms, a gallery of fine art, which includes the paintings of Picasso, Van Gogh and Monet, among other artists, and internationally renowned restaurants and retail shops. Mirage evaluated a number of vendors, including PeopleSoft, Lawson, JD Edwards and Platinum. Mirage selected Baan Company as it was the only vendor to successfully demonstrate the necessary high degree of functionality and flexibility in its proposed implementation strategy.

"Baan CODA-Financials easily accommodated Mirage Resorts' unique reporting requirements and its intense schedule for implementation," said Andrew Nash, president of Baan Global Consulting. "With very little custom work, Mirage Resorts was able to eliminate many inefficient manual processes while keeping hundreds of familiar reports and charts as they were."
