Omni Hotels Acquires the 365-room 
Radisson Plaza in Charlotte, N.C.
Immediate Plans for $7 Million Dollar Renovation
 
IRVING, Texas - Dec. 22, 1998--Omni Hotels announced today that it has acquired the Radisson Plaza in Charlotte, N.C., to be renamed the Omni Charlotte Hotel.

Located at the corner of Trade and Tryon Streets in Charlotte's exclusive uptown area, the 365-room hotel is connected via a glass-enclosed skybridge to the city's key downtown business and entertainment districts. A scheduled renovation in excess of $7 million is expected to transform the Omni Charlotte Hotel into one of the city's premier luxury hotels.

"We are very excited to announce the addition of the Omni Charlotte Hotel to our portfolio of luxury, four-diamond hotel properties," says Omni Hotels President Jim Caldwell. "The hotel's prime location affords it one of the most envied addresses in downtown Charlotte. Through our planned renovation this spring, we intend to make the Omni Charlotte Hotel the hotel of every sophisticated traveler's dream."

Included in the renovation effort will be the hotel's lobby and atrium, guest tower, 16,000 square feet of meeting and function space, restaurant and bar. Looney  Associates -- the Dallas-based architectural design firm credited with creating award-winning interior designs for Omni Hotels, Westin, Meridian and Grand Tiara Hotels, as well as for Charlotte's exclusive Park Hotel -- will be responsible for fashioning a fresh, modern, upscale look for the Omni Charlotte Hotel integrating rich fabrics and furnishings, marble, crystal and light to the hotel's open design.

Caldwell anticipates that the post-renovation splendor of the Omni Charlotte Hotel will draw added travelers of the highest social spectrum to Charlotte to partake of the city's magnificent performing arts centers and historic sites, bustling commercial district, sports and entertainment attractions and scenic views of Charlotte's ever-changing uptown skyline.
