| AMARILLO, Texas, Dec. 29, 1998 - The Holiday Inn-Amarillo
I-40 is launching a comprehensive $2.5 million renovation this week that
will upgrade virtually every area of the hotel.
The hotel's 247 guest rooms will receive a floor-to-ceiling makeover, including new floor and wall coverings, lighting, bedspreads and drapery. In the lobby, new wall coverings and drapery will be installed, as well as new furniture. Banquet and meeting spaces will be updated with new wall and floor coverings and new lighting. The restaurant, currently dubbed Brass Lantern, will be completely overhauled with a new look, name and menu. Outside, a new porte cochere will be constructed. Decorative paving and an updated roof line will complete the look. Construction is scheduled for completion in March. "This renovation will give our hotel the appearance and atmosphere of a brand-new property," said Fred Parker, general manager of the Holiday Inn- Amarillo I-40. The Holiday Inn-Amarillo I-40, at 1911 I-40 East, is located in the heart of Amarillo's business district. The hotel's renovation is part of Bass Hotels Resorts' $1.5 billion modernization program of all Holiday Inns nationwide. Initiated in 1994, the program provides for upgrades and renovations to exteriors, public areas and guest rooms. The program is a "rolling" initiative, which will effectively rejuvenate the entire Holiday Inn system every seven years. The Holiday Inn-Amarillo I-40 is operated by Dallas-based Bristol Hotels
