Carol Beggs, Sonesta International,  Winner of  1998 
Telman MasterTech Award for Individuals
 
 Houston, TX - September 11, 1998 - Carol Beggs, CHTP and Director of Information Systems for the Sonesta International Hotel Corporation, has been awarded The Telman MasterTech Award for Individuals  for 1998.  The Telman MasterTech Award is given to the hotel management companies, hotel companies or employees of such that are producing unprecedented results through bringing people and technology together. 

Sonesta International manages 18 properties, including the Royal Sonesta, Boston.   Beggs was nominated by Richard Siegel of Update Magazines, who states, �Sonesta has always been a very creative company, and they are not afraid to try new technology.  You can always look to them to be on top of the latest developments.  Of course, Carol Beggs is a huge part of that.� 

Lorie Juliano, PR Manager for the Royal Sonesta adds, �The Royal Sonesta, Boston, is in the middle of a very technology oriented part of the country, and we consider ourselves on the cutting edge with regards to implementing technology. 

�In the past few months, for instance, we have made some huge improvements in the telecom facilities in both our Guest Rooms and Meeting Rooms.  Each guest room is now equipped with dual line phones, data ports, speaker phones, voice mail and conference call ability with 12 direct inward dial numbers, ISDN and T1 connections for use in video conferencing and internet access, and automated room to room connections using Pure ReQuest technology from VCS.  Our Meeting Rooms has even more advanced capabilities.�

The other 1998 award winners are Candlewood Hotel Company, Inc., winner of The Telman MasterTech Award for Bottom Line Profits, and Prime Hospitality Corp., winner of The Telman MasterTech Award for Guest Services.  The awards will be presented at the HFTP Annual Convention�s Awards Luncheon, sponsored by Telman, on September 26 at the Hyatt Crystal City in Washington, D.C..
