ATLANTA (Sept. 22, 1998) - Microtel Inn & Suites- the
fastest growing chain of all newly - constructed, interior corridor, budget
hotels in the U.S. - will hold the official grand opening ceremony for
Ohio's newest Microtel Inn & Suites on Thursday, September 24, from
4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Kings Island Microtel Inn & Suites,
5324 Beach Blvd. off Interstate 71. The Mason-Kings Island
property is the fifth Microtel to open in the state. Properties are
also located in Columbus, Grove City, Streetsboro and Youngstown.
The official grand opening will begin at 4:30 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. and free giveaways, including a drawing for one weekend stay at the hotel. Tours of the hotel will also be given. "The Microtel product is superior in value and quality to everything
else in its price category, and the
opening of the Mason Microtel Inn & Suites is evidence that USFS is
well on its way to reaching its goal of providing consumers with 1,000
Microtel properties by 2000," said Mike
The Microtel Inn & Suites in Mason, owned by Hamilton-based hotel
development group, Epps Investment Group, Inc., is a two-story, 52-room
property. Rates start at $45 per night, with a complimentary USA
Today daily, weekend continental breakfast, and fax and copy service.

According to Robert Burnham, general manager of the property, "We are
extremely excited about the grand opening and look forward to getting the
word out about our special corporate rates for the winter season."

formed in August 1995 by Mike Leven, a 38-year veteran of the lodging industry,
and Neal Aronson, former principal of a New York investment firm, when
the company purchased the franchise system rights to Microtel Inn, Microtel
Inn & Suites and Microtel Suites. U.S. Franchise Systems acquired
the franchise rights to Hawthorn Suites, an extended-stay product, in 1996,
and full ownership in March 1998. U.S. Franchise Systems also acquired
the franchise rights to Best Inns & Suites, a mid-level economy brand,
in April 1998.
