BEVERLY HILLS, Calif - July 16, 1998 - Daniel Dinell has
been named vice president, strategic planning for Hilton Hotels Corp.'s
Hotel Division.
Dinell most recently served as director-staff services, a position he had held since May 1996. Dinell, who reports directly to Dieter Huckestein, president of Hilton's Hotel Division, will be responsible for the strategic planning process within the division. Dinell's responsibilities include developing and articulating the division's operating philosophy and annual plan, and directing the formulation of individual hotel business plans. In this newly created position, he will also assess and analyze Hilton's competitive position in the industry while improving strategic and tactical communications within the Hilton hotel network. "Through his insight and initiative, Daniel has contributed greatly to a strategic planning process that has yielded tremendous results for our hotel operating unit," Huckestein said. "By expanding his current responsibilities, he will improve the flow of management information within the division, and help create added value for our customers, owners and shareholders, our strategic partners, Hilton team members, and the communities we serve. These are critical steps in our effort to stay a step ahead of our competition." Dinell began his career with Hilton in 1989 as regional marketing coordinator for Hilton Resorts in Hawaii. In 1990, he was promoted to assistant to the senior vice president of Hilton Resorts Division. In May 1994, he transferred to Hilton's World Headquarters in Beverly Hills as operations project manager. Prior to joining Hilton, Dinell served as a liaison for the overseas division of Nippon Express Co. Ltd. in Tokyo. Dinell, who is fluent in Japanese, earned a bachelor of arts degree from Colorado College and was a graduate research student at the University of Tokyo, earning distinction as a Monbusho Scholar.Hilton Hotels is recognized internationally as the preeminent gaming and hospitality company.
