Palm Springs Area Golf Now Being Promoted Through teetime-online

PALM SPRINGS, CA AUGUST 13, 1998 --- Designed to avoid sand traps when making tee time reservation on area golf courses, locally based companies, Desert Publications Inc. and SofTime Inc, have joined forces to promote Palm Springs area golf through teetime-online. The announcement of the joint Internet venture was made at a recent meeting with area golf club managers.  Golf courses were encouraged to reserve their web site with teetime-online by September of 1998 in preparation for this seasons golf visitors.

Expanding on an existing Internet service currently provided to Desert Falls Country Club by SofTime Inc, teetime-online will provide current and potential club members, area residents and visitors, hotel concierges, travel agents and others with easy 24-hour access to tee time reservations at participating public, private and semi-private valley golf courses.

According to Todd May, webmaster for Desert Publications, Inc. which also oversees the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Visitors & Convention Bureaus website, desert-resort.com, teetime-online is being designed as a very user-friendly Internet service.  Clubhouse computers will host the tee time reservation system to ensure quick, proper handling of all reservations.  As an added benefit to clubs, each individual golf course website will be linked to desert-resorts.com, an established valley website, which received an average of over 500,000, hits a month from around the world.  Choosing teetime-online will not only provide area golf courses with that necessary edge in todays competitive market, it will also provide them with the higher profile they desire for their websites.

Golfers who make reservations through teetime-online will be greeted by a customized website and online display of the tee times available nearest their requested time.  A confirmation number is provided for each reservation and cancellations can also be handled, according to each individual club policy, through the clubs website.

Traditional methods of securing tee times over the phone can be a nightmare for golfers, especially in season, said Peter Hughes, Vice-President of SofTime.  We expect this promotion and the added convenience of teetime-online to have a very positive effect on the valleys golf economy.  We also expect that area golf clubs will broaden their membership appeal through these new teetime-online services, and that Palm Springs will continue to be promoted as the worlds premier golf resort destination.

Hughes believes that private golf clubs who sign up for teetime-online will enhance their exclusivity through well designed sites and by member passwords and e-mail addresses associated with the prestigious golf course names.

SofTime Inc is located in La Quinta, California.  The companys reservation management software, teetime-online was created by a golf professional in collaboration with a systems architect and programmer.  Kenneth Waxlax is SofTimes Chief Executive Office and Michael Stone is Executive Vice President.  For more information about SofTime, please call 760-564-5168 or visit their website at www.teetime-online.com

Nationally known Epoch Internet of Irvine, California will provide the networking system for teetime-online. A new addition to SofTimes Internet service, Epoch brings a vast knowledge and experience of up-to-date networking technology.

Desert Publications, Inc. in Palm Springs, which publishes the award-winning Palm Springs Life magazine, as well as many other well-known publications, publishes the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention and Visitors Bureaus Website, desert-resorts.com.  Webmaster, Todd May, has created and maintained over 75 websites and has served as a consultant for several commercial web design firms.
