FAIRFIELD, N.J., Aug. 20 , 1998 - Prime Hospitality Corp.
(NYSE: PDQ) has announced the recent openings of five new HomeGate Studios
Suites and two new AmeriSuites hotels. With these openings, Prime now has
29 HomeGates and 75 AmeriSuites in operation. All properties are new construction
and feature accommodations with separate cooking, living and sleeping areas.
The 128-suite AmeriSuites hotel located at 7500 Augusta National Drive, Orlando is the eighth AmeriSuites open and operating in Florida and the first in the Orlando market. The hotel is located one half mile north of Orlando International Airport in the Lee Vista Center Office complex. It is 12 miles from Sea World, 15 miles from Universal Studios, 20 miles from Disney World's Magic Kingdom and nine miles from the Orange County Convention Center. AmeriSuites reached its milestone 75th property with the opening of the 128-suite Pittsburgh / Cranbury hotel located at 136 Emeryville Drive. This is the second AmeriSuites operating in the Pittsburgh market. The property is located off exit 3 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Thorn Hill Industrial Park. It is also 20 miles from Three Rivers Stadium and 25 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. HomeGate opened its fourth property in the Austin market at 8221 North IH-35. The hotel features 121 studios and suites and is five miles from the University of Texas, six miles from Downtown and the Austin Convention Center. The hotel also features an outdoor kidney-shaped pool surrounded by lush landscaping and live oaks, and is the 16th HomeGate operating in Texas. The 130-unit Pompano Beach HomeGate at 1401 SW 15th Street is the first HomeGate in the Fort Lauderdale market and the second in Florida. Located off I-95 near several office and retail developments, the hotel is a quarter mile from Funscape Entertainment Center, four miles from area beaches and in close proximity to a variety of restaurants and fast food establishments. HomeGate's second Indianapolis hotel opened at 9370 Waldemar Road. The hotel features 140 units and is located off 465 on the northwest side of Indianapolis. It is near the Park 100 corporate business park and the corporate headquarters of Dow Elanco. The 129-unit Park Central Mall HomeGate at 217 W. Osborn Road is the fourth HomeGate open in Arizona, all of which are in the Phoenix area. Located in downtown Phoenix near the Park Central Mall, the hotel is minutes from Bank One Ballpark, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and is near many restaurants. HomeGate opened its second Colorado hotel at 14095 E. Evans Avenue in Aurora. Both hotels are in the Denver area. The 137-unit hotel is located 20 minutes from the Denver airport, 15 minutes from downtown Denver and is walking distance from many restaurants. Prime is rapidly growing both its AmeriSuites and HomeGate brands. In addition to the properties currently in operation, there are 16 AmeriSuites and 22 HomeGate's under construction. Prime has begun franchising the AmeriSuites brand, and expects to obtain the necessary approval to begin franchising HomeGates and its other proprietary brand -- Wellesley Inns -- shortly.
