Nieves most recently served as regional director of purchasing for Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Phoenix, Arizona. He replaces Donald Royal who is retiring after a 24-year Hilton career. 

In his new position, Nieves is responsible for supervising the purchasing, supply management and formulating and implementing corporate procurement policies and procedures for all Hilton corporate owned and/or managed properties and the Hilton Corporate offices in Beverly Hills. 

Nieves also works closely with the purchasing office of Hilton Gaming Corp. in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, he supervises all activities of Hilton Equipment Corp. (HEC) a wholly owned subsidiary of Hilton Hotels. HEC provides renovation, freight consolidation, installation and purchasing services for furniture, fixtures, equipment and operating supplies for Hilton properties and other non-Hilton entities. Nieves reports to Dennis Koci, senior vice president-operations support for the Hotel Division of Hilton Hotels Corp. 

In addition to his previous role as regional director of purchasing in Phoenix, Nieves, a 15-year Hilton employee has worked as director of central purchasing in Washington, D.C.; purchasing agent at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport; purchasing coordinator at Trump's Castle Hotel & Casino (formerly the Atlantic City Hilton); and assistant purchasing agent at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort & Towers in Miami. 

Nieves earned a bachelor of science degree in hospitality management from Florida International University and is a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and Certified Foodservice Purchasing Manager (CFPM). He is chairperson of the Educational Committee for the National Restaurant Association-Foodservice Purchasing Manager's Group and director-elect, District 1 and will serve on the board of directors for the National Association of Purchasing Management.
