CHICAGO, Aug. 26, 1998 - Beginning October 1, 1998,
business and leisure travelers visiting Chicago will have no better way
to beat the blues than to check in at the world's first House of Blues
Hotel, a Loews Hotel.
Located in Chicago's landmark Marina City riverfront complex on North
Dearborn, the hotel anchors a
revitalized destination that also includes the House of Blues Music Hall
and Restaurant and several new attractions. The hotel features 367 rooms
and suites, intimate VIP meeting space in the hotel and access to the House
of Blues Music Hall and Restaurant for additional meetings and social functions.
Special attractions include a 36-lane AMF Bowling Center, a 25,000 square
foot Crunch Health Fitness Club, one of Chicago's hottest blues clubs right
in the building, and access to a variety of marina activities such as boat
rentals.
Created by award-winning interior designer, Cheryl Rowley, the hotel
decor incorporates Gothic, Moroccan and East Indian motifs as well as selections
from the diverse architectural and artifact collection assembled by the
House of Blues and its founder,
Isaac Tigrett. Guests will be welcomed into the hotel lobby by large iron
cathedral gates opening to ancient blue glass panels from a meditation
temple in India, two hand-carved wooden corbels gracing the bar and three
colossal male figures circling a large structural column in the center
of the lobby. Originally carved in limestone from India, the bodies of
the male figures are Indian while the faces are rendered in the style of
the southern primitive artist. Each of the guest rooms and suites will
display original artwork and utilize the vibrant colors and patterns featured
throughout the hotel. The rooms will also be "technology friendly" providing
direct internet access via the television, the first hotel in Chicago to
offer this feature.
Room rates at the hotel range from $125 for cabin rooms, $175 for standard
rooms and $325 for suites.
House of Blues Hospitality Inc. was created to develop urban hotels
