BETHESDA, Md., June 11, 1998 -  Host Marriott Corporation (NYSE: HMT) announced it has completed its acquisition of the 397-room Ritz- Carlton, Tysons Corner, Virginia. The hotel was purchased for $96 million. The Earnings Before Interest Expense, Taxes, Depreciation, Amortization and other non-cash items (EBITDA) from the hotel is projected to be $10.1 million, in the first year.

Mr. Terence C. Golden, president and chief executive officer, stated, "We are excited to add the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner to the luxury-tier segment of our portfolio which includes eight Ritz-Carltons and three Four Seasons. Its superior location in a premier office/retail market situated just outside Washington, D.C. coupled with the world renowned Ritz-Carlton brand makes the Tysons Corner hotel a prominent acquisition."

The AAA Four-Diamond, Mobil Four Star rated Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner is located in the heart of Fairfax County, which is home to approximately 23,000 businesses, trade associations and corporations. The hotel is attached to the 800,000 square foot Tysons Galleria shopping center and two 375,000 square foot office buildings, one of which is under construction and scheduled to be completed in early 1999. The award-winning hotel has a gourmet restaurant, two private dining rooms, a lobby lounge, approximately 30,000 square feet of meeting space including a 14,000 square foot ballroom, a fitness center with an indoor lap pool and a spa facility.
