MICROS - Fidelio Partners With Leading Hotels on the Release of OPERA,
the Industry's Newest Concept in Hotel Enterprise Management
---

BELTSVILLE, Md.--June 16, 1998--MICROS-Fidelio International, a subsidiary of MICROS Systems Inc. and the world's premier provider of hotel information technology, announced the introduction of its new integrated hotel enterprise management system, OPERA, together with the support of seven of the world's most prestigious hotel chains.

In a unique focus group approach to product development, MICROS-Fidelio partnered with seven of the industry's most respected hotel chains to provide key feedback into the development of OPERA. OPERA integrates all major front office management functions into an enterprise-wide solution that provides the optimal level of functionality and efficiency.

Unlike other property management systems, OPERA enables use of the same applications and technology at both the property level and the corporate level of a hotel enterprise. With common functionality across the enterprise, the limitations of corporate versus property-defined responsibilities disappear.

Operators have the flexibility to change processes or assignments, introduce new functions and share resources between properties and corporate headquarters. In addition, OPERA uses the latest in database technology from industry leader, Oracle(R), to support the ``complexing'' of multiple properties onto a single network.

The robustness of the system provides the scaleability to manage multiple smaller properties up to the largest casino and resort properties with thousands of rooms. OPERA delivers an unprecedented level of flexibility and power for achieving the next level in hotel management, cost control and customer service.

The OPERA lead development partners participated in detailed design discussions over the past six months. Several of the development partners have already scheduled beta testing for 1998.

MICROS-Fidelio lead partners include Bass Hotels & Resorts, Bristol Hotels & Resorts, Carlson Hospitality Worldwide (Radisson Hotels Worldwide, Regent International Hotels, and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson), Hilton International, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., and Wyndham International.

The first beta site installation of OPERA is scheduled at a Bristol hotel later this summer.

``At Bristol, we experience the management challenges that OPERA will address first hand and we're eager to receive the benefits of an enterprise-level solution,'' said Tom Murphy, chief information officer for Bristol Hotels & Resorts. ``We're looking forward to the implementation of the system's initial pilot site at one of our Crowne Plaza properties,'' he added.

``We've designed OPERA to be a hotel enterprise management system, not simply a property management system. It provides the tools to manage multiple properties of almost any size with even more functionality than our popular Front Office version 6/7 solutions,'' said Jeffrey Edwards, president and CEO of MICROS-Fidelio International.

``OPERA will enable operators to manage their entire hotel enterprise with a new higher level of efficiency. Guests will see the value of the OPERA system in the heightened level of service provided. Hotels will see the difference in greater revenues and profits.''

The traditional Front Office functions that now have an enterprise perspective with OPERA include customer profiling across properties, chain-wide rate/availability management, check-in/ out from any property, centralized reservations & group/block management, back office accounting, account management, cashiering, night audit and more.

Additionally, as a multi-system solution, OPERA is able to support several operating systems and hardware platforms in a single network, including Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 95/NT, a variety of UNIX environments, and PC and thin client platforms (network computer, NetPC, PC with Java).

The network computing capability of OPERA enables operators to take advantage of the latest technologies to reduce further hardware and operations costs.
