WorldRes Releases New Software to Significantly Reduce Online Hotel Distribution Costs

HITEC, BALTIMORE, MD, June 24, 1997 -WorldRes, Inc, which provides hotels with real-time booking capability on the World Wide Web, today announced the July release of its reservation system's Version 2.0 upgrade. The WorldRes system allows hotels to receive online reservations at a significantly lower cost than through the traditional methods of phone, fax and airline GDS, and gives hotels access to a wide range of Internet users via its links to a growing number of major travel and destination Web sites, including WorldRes' own Web site, Places To Stay (http://www.placestostay.com).

Among its new features, Version 2.0 will allow its member properties to create multiple pricing tables for a wide range of customers. This feature lets hotels list negotiated rates and control who has access to these rates. This will allow WorldRes member properties to take reservations directly online from individual wholesalers, tour operators, meeting planners, major corporate clients and travel agents, at a much lower distribution cost than traditional channels. WorldRes will build a custom interface for any property that wants to take advantage of this feature.

"Our new system provides hotels with an entirely new, low-cost way to sell and market their properties on the Internet," said Eric Christensen, chief executive officer of WorldRes. "We now have even more to offer individual hotels and hotel companies that enroll in the WorldRes system."

The new system will contain additional upgraded features for hotel customers. Hotels will be able to load rates in local currencies, feature more property and guest room photos and list additional amenities, services, restaurants, meeting rooms and local attractions. They will also be able to add children's and per person rates, as well as special offers and promotions, directly into the new price tables.

WorldRes, Inc. (http://www.worldres.com) founded in 1995, provides Internet sales and marketing technologies and services to hotel properties around the world, at no fixed cost. Using the latest Internet technology, WorldRes allows individual hotels and hotel companies to take reservations from multiple sources, using a single interface. WorldRes, with offices in San Mateo, California, and London, also operates the consumer travel Web site, Places To Stay. Properties and hotel companies interested in enrolling in the WorldRes system can contact WorldRes sales at (415) 372-1700, or apply online on the WorldRes Web site.
