ATLANTA (November): The Holiday Inn Youngstown-South (Boardman, Ohio) has received the Holiday Hospitality Torchbearer Award, the company’s most prestigious award given for quality service.
The 1997 Torchbearer Awards were presented during a special ceremony at the annual Holiday Hospitality Worldwide Conference in Nashville, Tenn. Len Lesko, general manager of the Holiday Inn Youngstown-South accepted the award.
The Holiday Inn Youngstown-South, locally owned and operated by the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation, is one of only 63 properties chosen from the entire Holiday Hospitality system of more than 2,300 hotels for maintaining the highest standards of excellence in product quality, hotel operations, guest services and profitability. This is the fifth Torchbearer Award the hotel has received in the past seven years. All five Torchbearer trophies, the company’s symbol of excellence, are on permanent display at the hotel and on the hotel’s web site at http://www.hiboardman.com.
“Recognizing the Holiday Inn Youngstown-South with a Torchbearer award means that we believe this property is one of the best hotels in the business,” said Thomas Oliver, chairman and CEO of Holiday Hospitality. “Through its commitment to overall quality, hospitality and customer service, this hotel continuously exceeds the highest standards of excellence.”
In addition, the hotel was awarded the 1997 Priority Club Members’ Choice Award for ‘Best Hotel Staff’. Members of the Holiday Hospitality frequent guest program, Priority Club, voted on the award. Len Lesko, general manager of the hotel, accepted this award during the conference. This is the second consecutive year that the hotel has received the Priority Club Members’ Choice Award. Both Priority Club Members’ Choice trophies are on permanent display at the hotel.
“It is a privilege to recognize the Holiday Inn Youngstown-South as the hotel with the Best Hotel Staff,” said Thomas Oliver. “This award is very special because the winners are chosen by our most frequent guests. Each year guests’ expectations rise, challenging our hotels to be better than ever. That makes Members’ Choice one of our most competitive awards, with the true winners being our guests.”
