News for the Hospitality Executive |
ORLANDO, Fla., May 21, 2013 – With the doors now open at its London office, hospitality technology company Intelity is looking to make its award-winning ICE guest service platform a staple for hotels throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The new location serves as the company’s regional headquarters and is only the first step in a comprehensive strategy, developed largely by Intelity senior vice president of international hospitality sales Jake Buckstead. To reinforce its efforts, Intelity has increased its manpower with the hire of James Fothergill, EMEA sales director. “It’s exciting to now have James on board as someone who brings a lot of insight into the needs of hoteliers in this particular region,” Buckstead said. “Intelity has always enjoyed success in the European space, but we’ve recognized the need to invest further. A local office will allow us to provide additional support to existing clients and drive new business both directly and indirectly, with continued collaboration with regional partners.” Fothergill, who has more than a decade of experience in technology sales, said he believes a focus on the European continent is a sound decision. Europe is currently ranked as the top tourism destination in the world and boasts a market share of nearly 50 percent. In the European Union, people spend more than 1.5 billion nights in hotels and other lodging establishments, according to HOTREC. The Middle East and Africa also have flourishing hospitality industries, evidenced by the upward movement of several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Morocco, Cape Verde and South Africa, in rankings on the World Economic Forum’s most recent Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index. Fothergill said, “I am excited to join Intelity to assist as they make a push into this market. The timing couldn’t be better, as it coincides with the unveiling of the new ICE Sapphire platform.” One of his goals is to spread awareness about the growing potential of mobile and self-service technology to revolutionize the dynamic between a hotel and its guests. Fothergill said, “With ICE Sapphire, hoteliers throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be able to most effectively capitalize on the increasing use of smartphones and tablets among world travelers to provide impeccable service and increase revenue opportunities. Today’s hotel guests desire the option of selecting for themselves the best means of communicating with their hotel, and they deserve to have it, as it’s the hotel’s responsibility to meet the expressed needs of their guests.” For more information on Intelity, visit www.intelitycorp.com or contact Fothergill at [email protected].
