The 207-room DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton Opens in New York Following
$15 Million Renovation of the Former Riverwalk Hotel and Conference Center

Owned by Alfred Weissman Real Estate and Operated by the Newport Hospitality Group

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.- May 8, 2013
--DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton Worldwide’s fastest growing full service brand, today announced the opening of its newest hotel in New York with the DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton. Formerly the Riverwalk Hotel and Conference Center, the property experienced significant damage caused by Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. Following the completion of a two year, multi-million dollar renovation, the property has transformed into an upscale, full-service hotel owned by Alfred Weissman Real Estate and operated by the Newport Hospitality Group.

Located in the city’s burgeoning downtown business and government districts, the DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton boasts a fresh, modern design highlighted by large picture windows throughout the lobby and public spaces to bring the hotel’s serene surroundings indoors. The 207-room hotel features elegantly designed suites with sprawling views of Downtown Binghamton and the spectacular Chenango River. To accommodate Binghamton’s growing appeal as a go-to destination for conventions and events, the hotel also offers 32,000 square feet of expansive conference space including a courtyard and outdoor garden terrace, ideal for weddings and outdoor events. The flexible meeting space can allow for up to 17 breakout rooms, and includes the Serling Room—the hotel’s state-of-the-art amphitheater-style lecture room that can accommodate up to 50 guests.
“The fact that DoubleTree by Hilton wants to be a part of our city sends a very strong message about the resurgence of downtown Binghamton. The community is very excited about this transformation, and the impact it will have on tourism in the market,” said Bud Nolan, general manager for DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton. “We look forward to bringing our business and leisure travelers the rewarding hospitality that is synonymous with the DoubleTree by Hilton name—starting with the presentation of the signature warm chocolate chip cookie at check in and spreading through every step of the traveler’s experience.”

Among the amenities that guests to the DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton will now enjoy are a refreshing array of CITRON body care products by Crabtree & Evelyn, the signature Sweet Dreams bed, in-room coffee and tea service, and an industry-recognized service culture which is built around the idea of CARE (Create a Rewarding Experience) for guests, team members and the community.

Guests and locals can take in stunning views while dining at The River Bistro restaurant and lounge, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offering classic American fare. For guests seeking an invigorating workout, DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton offers exclusive access to the elite Riverwalk Athletic Club, a state-of-the-art full-service gym, open seven-days-a-week and featuring private saunas, newly-renovated locker rooms, an indoor heated lap pool and whirlpool. Guests will also have access to the hotel’s 24-hour business center, as well as the hotel’s entertainment zone, Zone 225, to meet their social needs with a golf simulator, Xbox and air hockey table. Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary WiFi access in public areas and guest rooms.

“Currently, DoubleTree by Hilton offers three hotels in the upstate New York area, including the DoubleTree by Hilton Syracuse, DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester and Strathallan – A DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, also in Rochester,” said John Greenleaf, global head – DoubleTree by Hilton. “With the tremendous services and amenities DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton has to offer leisure and business travelers in this market, it is a great addition both to the city and to our growing portfolio of hotels.”

Just 10 miles from Greater Binghamton Airport, the hotel offers easy access to the area’s historic, cultural and scenic offerings, including the historic Forum Theatre and a wide array of shops, art galleries, restaurants, cafes and nightspots. Guests can enjoy a relaxing stroll alongside the Chenango River on the Binghamton River Trail or explore nearby attractions, including NYSEG Stadium, the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, the Roberson Museum, Binghamton Zoo, Binghamton University and Broome Community College.

As a participant in the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program, the hotel will now offer all guests the ability to earn and redeem Hilton HHonors points. Diamond HHonors members will receive 1,000 bonus points and free breakfast during stays, and Gold HHonors members will have the option of receiving either 1,000 bonus points or a complimentary breakfast during their stay.

To mark the opening, DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton will offer double HHonors points for stays completed through October 31, 2013. For reservations or to inquire about meeting packages, visit www.doubletree.com, contact your preferred travel professional or call 607-722-7575.
