The Taj Group Opens the 189-room Vivanta by Taj in the Millennium City of Gurgaon
Marking the
100th Hotel in India for The Taj Group

Gurgaon – March 8, 2013
– The Taj Group, India’s largest hospitality group, today announced the launch of its 100th hotel in India with Vivanta by Taj, in the Millennium City of Gurgaon. The Group has 117 hotels globally. This takes the overall portfolio of Vivanta by Taj – Hotels & Resorts to 26 hotels.

Keeping in mind Gurgaon’s ‘bustling’ lifestyle, the Taj presents a metropolitan marvel that stands tall as an ode to the Millennium City. Avante garde in design, imaginative by nature and possessing vibrant bursts of surprises like the iconic Thai Pavilion offering the best of Siam on a plate, the expansive Latitude, the energetic Tease bar, the hotel offers stylized accommodations with high business efficiencies, a work and play ‘Rhythm’ lounge, large and versatile banquet spaces, an energizing Jiva Spa and unique Vivanta Motifs which showcase an alternative life.

Located 30 Kms (19 miles) south of the national capital–New Delhi, the stylish and contemporary Vivanta by Taj – Gurgaon, offers an über-cool escape for the new age ‘work hard-play hard’ traveler who seeks distinguishing design and edgy spaces. Situated  close to the business district and recreational hotspots including Kingdom of Dreams and the DLF Golf Course along with Gurgaon’s ubiquitous malls, the hotel provides an opportunity to experience cool luxury that is a distinctive ‘Vivanta by Taj’ brand promise.

“It is a proud moment for us to be part of this occasion. With the launch of Vivanta by Taj – Gurgaon, NCR, not only have we expanded the footprint of the brand into the business district, but also accomplished a significant milestone in the group’s journey, by becoming the 100th hotel in India in our ever growing portfolio,” said at the launch, Mr. Raymond N Bickson, managing director and chief executive officer at Indian Hotels Company Limited. “It further reinforces our commitment to expand our service offerings to newer destinations in the country. It also supports the company’s objective of achieving growth through domestic dominance. Vivanta by Taj is a testament to the dynamism and innovation that the Taj is renowned for.”

Ms Deepa Misra Harris, senior vice president, sales & marketing at Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces also mentioned, “The occasion marks a distinct celebration for the Group and inspires us to achieve even greater milestones. Reaching our 100th hotel milestone in India and a total of 117 globally reinforces our faith in our guests across geographies, who have amplified their preference for our brands across all locations we are present in. Designed to deliver vibrant experiences to its guests, Vivanta by Taj Hotels & Resorts is a brand with a contemporary, energetic and vivacious twist.”

Singapore-based architecture firm Warner Wong Design | WOW Architects is responsible for the distinctive design and architecture of the hotel. A careful mix of glass and stone creates the impression of a sharp, yet beautifully robust structure that’s avant-garde by design. The innovative concept and fine detailing extends through the creatively designed 189 guest rooms with city and pool views, 18 suites as well as a presidential suite with an executive lounge on the 10th floor.

Innovative technology has been woven across numerous elements to make tasks simpler for the guests. The state-of-the-art conferencing facilities and fully furnished banquet halls add another dimension to convenience for the business traveler. Every room comes fully equipped with video conferencing facilities, continuous and undisturbed internet access and comfortable seating of over 10,000 square feet of meeting spaces.

"We are excited to be present in the Millennium City – Gurgaon. The Vivanta brand is growing at a rapid pace. With its strategic location and the Vivanta brand features, this hotel is best poised to service the global traveler looking for a unique and contemporary experience” said Mr. Veer Vijay Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Vivanta by Taj Hotels & Resorts.

Latitude, the all-day diner at Vivanta by Taj - Gurgaon, seeks to reinvent gourmet dining in the city, apart from offering the world on a plate. Latitude offers an international food theater, showcasing the dramatic play of spices and flavors from six different cuisines. The iconic Thai Pavilion – the country’s first signature Thai cuisine restaurant opens its door for the food connoisseurs visiting Gurgaon. But if all you need is a quick bite or some refreshing beverages on the go, stop by Deli 04.

Filled with high-octane energy, Tease, the bar is designed to lift the spirits. The stylish bar opens out to a large alfresco dining space that keeps the evening young and the vibe alive.

And for the globetrotting and party hard traveler, Taj’s signature spa Jiva Spa offers a wide range of therapies to revitalize mind, body and senses, not to miss a special jet lag alleviation experience – Jagr – addressing corporate travelers flitting through time zones.

With each Vivanta hotel we present signature experiences rooted in local destination cues. These Vivanta Motifs are a representation of the Vivanta philosophy of hospitality with an imaginative twist. Carpe diem with the Vivanta Instalife analog photography project (www.vivantainstalife.com) and gallery, explore an alternative life with Vivanta trails curated by Tallis & Co, sample the best of Delhi’s street food from HUDA Chowk till Chandni Chowk with the Yellow Line menu, savor our 6 ‘cocktailed’ odes to the Millennium  City created by master mixologist Atilla, or get behind the scenes at the larger than life Kingdom of Dreams.
