HILTON HEAD, South Carolina (March 8,
2013) – Nestled
along South Carolina’s scenic coastline and in one of the country’s
most iconic
beach destinations, the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort opens a new
chapter
in its famed heritage with a $17 million rejuvenation. Breaking ground
in November
2012, the first phase of the renovation is scheduled to be complete
April 2013,
welcoming guests to a totally transformed vacation experience just in
time for
spring break and summer. The full-scale renovation, which includes a
second phase set
to begin in late 2013, features an entirely new arrival experience,
with lush
landscaping and enhancements to the porte-cochere, cedar shake and wood
accents, pendant lanterns and new lighting sconces. The new lobby space
boasts
lounge-style concierge areas and vibrant-colored walls juxtaposed
against the
white-on-white ceiling. The opening of the entire space creates a
comfortable
gathering place for guests upon arrival and throughout their stay. The outdoor experience, complete with
sweeping views of the
Atlantic coastline, includes a renovation of the existing family and
adult
pools, the addition of a kid-friendly “Splash Pad” and zero-entry pool
with
ledge seating edging the dune line. The revamped and ever-popular Buoy
Bar
continues to serve tropical cocktails, sandwiches, salads and light
fare to
both beach and pool-goers. From the pool area to the Upper Courtyard,
new
pavers and landscaping lead guests to the extended dining deck at one
of Hilton
Head’s most renowned restaurants, hh Prime. The new deck features a
large fire
pit, inviting guests to gather for pre- or post-dinner libations. Continuing the evolution of the resort’s
outdoor public
spaces, Palmetto Market’s outside deck has been extended to accommodate
busy
days at the Market, while the Palmetto Courtyard has been re-imagined
and
re-landscaped to provide additional space for outdoor functions, such
as
weddings or meeting break outs. The more than 15,000 square feet of current
meeting space
features “Carolina” porches, allowing the balmy breeze to welcome
guests to the
revamped and redecorated meeting rooms. New wall coverings, lighting,
art work
and flooring enhance the interior spaces while special seating and new
flooring
outside will finish the decks overlooking the Palmetto Courtyard. For ultimate relaxation, vacationers and
meeting attendees
alike take sanctuary in Ocean Tides Spa, which now features a full
service
salon with manicure, pedicure and hair stations for weddings, groups or
single
guests, as well as three new treatment rooms, changing rooms and a
soothing
relaxation area. The beachfront resort showcases beautiful
views from its 323
studio suites -- the largest resort accommodations on the island -- as
well as
one- and two-bedroom luxury suites. As part of the prestigious Palmetto
Dunes
community, the Omni Hilton Head offers an 11-mile lagoon system for
kayaking or
canoeing, bike trails, 25 tennis courts and 54 holes of championship
golf. Guests may visit omnihiltonheadresort.com
