GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Jan. 15, 2012 – Amway Hotel Corporation, a division of Amway Corporate Enterprises, a subsidiary of Amway Inc., has appointed Michael Cavanagh as chief information officer.  In this role, Cavanagh is responsible for information technology and telecommunications in support of Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, JW Marriott Grand Rapids and the Downtown Courtyard by Marriott.  Additionally, Cavanagh is a member of the executive committee responsible for developing the corporation’s overall vision and strategic roadmap.

A major initiative that Cavanagh is tasked with is streamlining and enhancing all processes for meeting guest and employee technology service needs in order to deliver superior customer service for guests and employees.

Cavanagh has more than 15 years of experience in aligning IT practices with business strategy for higher education institutions.  A senior leader with MISM and MBA degrees, he has progressive experience in strategic planning and governance, IT budgeting/forecasting, ITIL standards & practices, technology infrastructure, ERP, CRM and LMS implementations and business process analysis and redesign.

In his most recent role as senior engagement manager of cloud services at Ellucian Fairfax, a leading provider of higher education solutions for universities, Cavanagh led strategic and operational planning initiatives around cloud and SaaS opportunities and solutions.

Cavanagh has also worked for more than ten years as an online adjunct professor for the School of Business and School of Technology at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI.

Michael Cavanagh earned a BS in Business Administration from Aquinas College, an MBA in Management Concentration at Grand Valley State University and an MISM from Ferris State University, all located within Michigan.
