Completing Three Years of Restoration, the 122-room Sofitel
Legend Cartagena Santa Clara Opens in Colombia

PARIS, Feb. 13, 2013-- Following three years of restoration, Sofitel Legend Cartagena Santa Clara opens its doors as the fourth property under the Sofitel Legend label, a distinguished collection of iconic, historical properties throughout the world. An extraordinary address and a former monastery built by the Clarist nuns in 1621, Sofitel Santa Clara has stood through centuries of unprecedented history and is the first Sofitel Legend in South America.

Located in the heart of Cartagena overlooking the magical Caribbean Sea, Sofitel Legend Cartagena Santa Clara's extensive renovation and restoration work has revived the best of its Republican style. The hotel features 122 refurbished guest rooms across the historical Colonial wing and the modernized Republican wing. With breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, each room offers its own personality with fresh white wash walls, natural wood ceilings and floors, soft neutral tones, and splashes of soft corals, mints, and turquoises.

The historical wing also hosts 17 suites, including the extravagant 1539 sq. ft Fernando Botero Suite , named in honor of the celebrated Colombian artist and featuring several of his works.

Situated in the former Clarist nuns' dining room, the property's renowned gourmet restaurant, 1621, now offers gastronomic fare with a French flare and an extensive wine cellar. Guests can also enjoy El Coro Lounge Bar, offering signature cocktails, cigars and live music on weekends, and the more casual El Claustro brasserie.

The spacious So Spa at Sofitel Santa Clara draws on healing traditions from ancient cultures around the world, enhanced by the highest standard in skin care, Sisley Paris . Guests may indulge with authentic, world-class treatments, a Hammam, Solarium, pool, fitness center, and dedicated tea area.
The announcement of Sofitel Legend Cartagena follows Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, which became the first Legend in 2009, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam which became the second Legend in 2011 and Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan, which was named a Legend in 2012.
