Guidelines within LSTs have been distilled down into eight specialized tutorials for key hospitality departments including; Front Office Operations, Guest Services, Restaurants, Beverages, Culinary, Stewarding, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments.
 
The Labor Standards Tutorials offer a combination of documents and worksheets that assist in offsetting labor management turnover, as they clearly define to incoming management how company standards have been developed, providing easy to follow learning tutorials with itemized steps guiding them all the way through the entirety of the Labor Standards development lifecycle.
 
Standards development guidelines within the Labor Standards Tutorials include:
  • Data collection: to develop a baseline for guest demand patterns ad historical performance.
  • Task lists:  to detail each activity the employee(s) are responsible for completing at the beginning, during or end of the shift.
  • Capacities: to determine how many guests an employee can effectively and efficiently serve / service at a given point in time.
  • Staffing Standards: to accurately reflect the relationship of key business indicators to the amount of time required to accomplish assigned work to expected quality levels.
  • System development: established by combining the guest flow data, the employee capacity, and the revenues (both actual and/or forecasted).
  • Quality assurance: encompassing a series of planned steps designed to provide confirmation of expected quality of services.
  • Glossary of Department Terms: designed primarily for new hires.
