News for the Hospitality Executive
Chicago, IL; February 8, 2013) – Konstantine Drosos, a 17 year veteran of Hilton Hotels has been appointed to the position of Hotel Manager of the Palmer House, the longest continuously operating full service hotel in North America. The announcement was made by Dean Lane, Palmer House Hilton General Manager. Drosos’ most recent position -- as Director of Finance, was at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel in San Diego, California, for which he was on the hotel’s opening team.
Drosos began his career with Hilton Hotels at the Fess Parker Doubletree Resort, in Santa Barbara, California where he functioned as the Assistant Director of Finance. Drosos swiftly moved up the management ladder assuming the position of Director of Finance for the Doubletree/Red Lion Hotel in Eureka, California; Doubletree Modesto, California; Hilton San Diego Resort; Hilton Chicago O’Hare International Hotel in Chicago, and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, California.
Drosos has distinguished himself and earned a reputation for exceeding financial goals of every Hilton property with which he was associated, and passing every major audit for each property as well.
“Konstantine joining the Palmer House Hilton is a significant plus for us,” said Dean Lane. “He has served our company well in acquiring the fiscal skills necessary for his responsibilities as Hotel Manager of one of the most important hotels in the world. His eminent qualifications in the areas of finance are decided assets for the Palmer House Hilton as we move forward with the many challenges of the lodging industry.
A Greek American, Drosos was born in Chicago, but his family moved to Greece soon after where they lived until the mid-1970’s when they returned to Chicago. Later his family migrated to Southern California entering the restaurant business to which Drosos credits his strong work ethic. Drosos is a graduate of the University of California where he earned a 3.57 GPA, while continuing to work in his family’s restaurant business.
“Coming to the Palmer House Hilton is a tremendous honor for me.” Drosos said. “To be affiliated with an American hotel institution that has been through the 19th, 20th centuries and to be part of its 21st century team is a challenge and privilege that’s hard to describe. I feel very fortunate to be here and part of it,” Drosos added. “I look forward to my new responsibilities with great enthusiasm and pride.”
Drosos is married to his Mexican-born sweetheart of 26 years, and the two have three children. Drosos is fluent in Greek and conversant in Spanish – both languages are spoken at home along with English.
Aside for passion for his family, Drosos has an unusual spread of interests which run the gamut of wrestling (a sport in high school he excelled in) and music. Drosos has been a serious guitarist for most of his adult life and takes special pride in his ability.
