Michelle Wadell, of The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach Shores,
Named Employee of the Year by the
Hotel and Lodging Association of Volusia County, Florida



October 2012 - The Hotel and Lodging Association of Volusia County, Florida  recently hosted its eighth annual employee appreciation and hospitality scholarship luncheon at Bethune-Cookman University's Center for Civic Engagement.

A total of 175 people attended the luncheon said Bob Davis, the associations president and CEO. Fifty people were turned away at the door because the room was filled to capacity, he said.

Michelle Wadell, of The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach Shores, received the association's Employee of the Year award. Wadell has spent 25 years in the hospitality industry in the Daytona Beach area. Wadell has spent the last 19 years at the same location and attended high school in Daytona Beach.

Other awards included Employee of the Year awards for bellman (Angel Santana of The Shores Resort); front desk/guest services agent (Larry Minissale with the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort); room attendant (Tina Hull of the Hilton Garden Inn in Daytona Beach); food and beverage employee (John "Benson" Marozzi of the Best Western Aku Tiki Inn); engineer (Tim Brown of the Best Western Castillo Del Sol); and saleswoman (Karen Szemborski of the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort).

Ruel Bradley received the association's Thomas Staed Hospitality Award and Bob Williams, who has been employed at The Shores Resort for 35 years, received a special recognition award.
