Colorado Hotel/Restaurant Inspection Company Chosen to Provide "Scouting"
Services for Travel Channel's Second Season of "Hotel Impossible"

DENVER, CO  (November 29, 2012) Guest Check Inc, of Golden, Colorado was selected earlier this year to provide onsite inspection services (aka mystery shops) on Travel Channel’s upcoming second season of their national reality show, “Hotel Impossible.”

Anthony Melchiorri, the “Hotel Fixer” and host of the show, and the team from Hotel Impossible were looking for a company with industry expertise to provide onsite feedback from a hotelier point of view.  Anthony reached out to colleague Eric Long, the General Manager at the acclaimed Waldorf Astoria in New York City who gave the referral.  Guest Check has been performing multiple inspections at the Waldorf Astoria each month since 2007.

Following Hotel Impossible’s scouting team, Guest Check inspectors stayed at the subject hotel before the filming took place, in order to see things from a guest perspective.  A detailed written report, along with audio, video and photographs, was compiled to support the production team in their fact finding efforts, adding to the necessary footage used in the final show.

The properties selected by the show’s producers were all independently owned and operated and not part of Guest Check’s current clientele.  Most were in varying states of decline, both physically and financially struggling to survive.  Although Guest Check works primarily in mid to upper end hotels, Melchiorri’s back-to-basic approach applies to a hotel and restaurant at any level or rating.  For both Guest Check clients and Hotel Impossible locations alike, the fundamental operational concerns (and kudos) uncovered in an anonymous Guest Check inspection is just one more tool in the arsenal of front line and corporate management teams, helping to create a remarkable guest experience.

Guest Check inspectors crisscrossed the country uncovering operational concerns of all kinds, including guest security oversights, code violations, and poor internet, to name a few.  Sometimes severe maintenance and housekeeping issues were reported to the front desk to see how the guest concerns were handled.  Although there was no shortage of staff training deficiencies, most guest interactions with staff showed friendly, sincere, and smiling faces wanting to do a good job.
