Florida's Longboat Key Club & Resort Moving Forward
with $400 Million Islandside Redevelopment Project

Longboat Key, FL – September 14, 2012 - Longboat Key Club & Resort announces it is re-filing its application for approval of the Islandside Redevelopment project with the Town of Longboat Key this week.

“We are pleased to be moving forward with our Islandside Redevelopment project, putting into motion plans that have been in the making for a number of years,” said Michael Welly, General Manager of Longboat Key Club & Resort.  “We appreciate the support of the Town and the residents who have persevered with us throughout this process.  They recognize the significance of the project to the Club and to the economic viability of the island.  We are looking forward to moving the project along at as fast a pace as is allowable.”

Upgrading and expanding the facilities at the Longboat Key Club & Resort will ensure that it remains in the top tier of luxury resort destinations for decades to come.  With the proposed improvements, Club members and guests will have access to the highest level of resort facilities and services.  The Longboat Key community will benefit from the boost in property values and ambience created by a revitalized top of the line resort destination on the island.

With the latest regional economic report noting Longboat Key Club & Resort as one of the top ten employers in Sarasota County, the project’s impact will not only be felt on Longboat Key, but will bolster the economies of Sarasota and Manatee counties with the creation of approximately 100 – 150 permanent full-time jobs, part-time and seasonal jobs and construction and engineering jobs.  Once the project is completed, the additional taxes that will be generated will flow into the local economy as well as stimulate tourism to the island, Sarasota and the region.

  • Rees Jones designed 18 Hole Golf Course
