Odessa, TX – (July 30, 2012) – Kana Hotel Group announced today that it has been awarded the long term management contract for the Hilton Garden Inn located in Odessa, TX.  The 100 Hilton Garden Inn Odessa, Texas is located only 12 miles from Midland-Odessa International airport and offers a daily complementary shuttle service to and from the airport. The property enjoys easy access to many local attractions such as Music Hall Mall, UTPB and Ector County Coliseum, all less than two miles from the hotel.  The property is only 1.5 miles from downtown Odessa.  This premium Hilton Garden Inn property with over 3,000 square feet of versatile meeting and function space opened in late 2010, and is one of the newest properties in the Odessa market.

Kana Hotel Group, a Knoxville, TN based Hotel Management and Development Company currently has twenty three properties in its portfolio, sixteen of which are Hilton products.  Kana was contracted for interim management of the Hilton Garden Inn in May and June while it was transferring ownership, and through aggressive revenue management strategies was able to achieve immediate high double digit RevPar growth.  Post-closing, Kana was contracted by the new ownership group under a long term management agreement.

The property was purchased by Wedge Real Estate Holdings, a Houston based real estate investment firm.  This transaction brings Wedges current hotel portfolio to a total of five properties, including properties in the Marriott, Starwood, Wyndham, and Carlson family of brands.   Brian Stage, President of Wedge Hotels Corporation commented, “The Hilton Garden Inn is certainly one of the premium hotel properties in the Odessa market.  This purchase represents our first venture with Hilton Hotels, and we are excited to be able do so with such a high quality, premium branded asset in a growth market like Odessa.”  Stage noted that the company is also under contract for three other purchases to close in the coming months, also within the Hilton family of brands.
