Hilton Worldwide and Rim Hospitality Open the 434-room
DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown in California

Multi-Million-Dollar Renovation of the Former Kyoto Grand Hotel
Nears Completion

McLEAN, Va., and LOS ANGELES (July 11, 2012)
– Hilton Worldwide and Rim Hospitality announced today the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown , the latest Los Angeles-area property in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio. With the majority of its multimillion-dollar renovation near completion, the former Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens is now the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown as it debuts its refreshed Japanese-inspired rooftop garden, the hotel’s signature outdoor event and meeting space.

Rob Palleschi, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said, “DoubleTree by Hilton continues to introduce our loyal business and leisure customers to a fast-growing portfolio of city center hotel locations, with the opening of the newly redesigned DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Los Angeles. This newest DoubleTree by Hilton hotel location extends our commitment to welcoming the world’s travelers in key destinations and providing a comfortable, amenity-rich hotel experience and exceptional service for visitors to work and play in the heart of the City of Angels.”

“We are excited to launch the next chapter of our hotel’s iconic history with a new look, new energy, and a rewarding new hotel experience as the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown,” says Joseph Kuhn, hotel general manager. “The inspiration behind the interior design will continue to pay tribute to the hotel’s longstanding history that celebrates the Little Tokyo community where the hotel is located. Our talented renovation team has also updated several service aspects of the hotel to create one of downtown Los Angeles’ premier, upscale hotel destinations.”

The DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown’s renovation includes significant design and service upgrades to the hotel’s 434 guestrooms and suites, public spaces and corridors, indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, business and fitness centers, and its legendary half-acre rooftop Japanese-style gardens. The look and feel of the renovated areas captures the dynamic energy and essence of downtown Los Angeles through contemporary design elements and vibrant color combinations set amidst a rich palette of natural wood tones and textures. The decor is inviting with comfortable furnishings throughout the hotel and guest reception areas that encourage a welcoming first impression.

Upon completion of its renovated guest rooms, guests to the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown will be delighted by the soothing earth tones present in new carpet and wall treatments. Additional changes to the guestrooms include the Sweet Dreams bed; 42” flat screen LCD televisions; ergonomic work desks and chairs; and high-speed internet access upgrades that provide business travelers with comfortable and efficient in-room working environments. Significant updates to guest bathrooms include new wall treatments, granite countertops, custom-made vanity tables, and refreshing Crabtree & Evelyn Citron bath and body products.

A significant investment in gardening and landscaping updates to the hotel’s beloved, half-acre gardens has returned the site to its original splendor as a peaceful outdoor oasis. Now called the Kyoto Gardens as tribute to the hotel’s former name, the gardens are one of Southern California’s most sought-after social spaces for weddings, receptions, and galas as well as corporate retreats and events. The gardens also present one of the most stunning views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Los Angeles also features 15,000 square feet of flexible conference space for conventions, business meetings, banquets, romantic weddings and social events, including the largest meeting room at 4,212 sq. ft., which can accommodate up to 650 guests. The hotel offers a 24-hour self-service business center and complimentary printing service that includes print-from-your room convenience. For guests who wish to keep up with their workout program while traveling at the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Los Angeles, a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness facility is now available.

The contemporary Azalea Restaurant has been redesigned to feature Asian-inspired California cuisine based on locally sourced and seasonal foods, offering guests freshly prepared favorites ranging from crisp salads to hearty sandwiches to grilled fish and chicken.  The hotel also serves the brand’s signature Wake Up DoubleTree Breakfast, which includes hot entrees and healthy options to start the day right.  At the end of a busy day, guests can unwind with a fine selection of refreshing cocktails in the chic atrium of the Rendezvous Lounge or watch sporting events on the big-screen TVs.  Room service also is available during peak dining hours.

DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Los Angeles guests will benefit from the characteristic qualities found at the brand’s more than 300 DoubleTree by Hilton locations in 24 countries, including the signature welcome with the legendary warm chocolate chip cookie presented to every guest at check-in, the rewards of the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program, and a unique and caring team member commitment to the local community.

Situated one block from Los Angeles City Hall and Civic Center, the location of the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown is minutes from the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Japanese American National Museum, Chinatown, and Olvera Street. The hotel is located at 120 South Los Angeles Street in Los Angeles, Calif., and is managed by Rim Hospitality.
