Coconut Grove, FL - August 30, 2012 – Mayfair Hotel & Spa, an all-suite hotel located in the heart of Coconut Grove, is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott McAbee as the new associate director of sales.  McAbee joins the team with more than 12 years of hospitality sales experience.

“We are so pleased to have Scott join our sales team,” said Axel Gasser, general manager.  “With the hotel’s upcoming re-launch and renovation, we’re confident that Scott’s extensive experience in the South Florida hospitality industry will help take our sales to new levels.”

McAbee was most recently director of sales and marketing at the Residence Inn by Marriott, where he increased the total number of corporate, revenue-producing accounts from 18 to 77 in less than a year.  His previous experience includes positions at The Mutiny Hotel and Extended Stay Hotels in Orlando.  His expertise in the South Florida market includes seven years at the Sonesta Coconut Grove where he climbed the ranks from sales manager to director of sales and marketing.  McAbee’s key accounts there consisted of Sony Entertainment, AstraZeneca and Crispin Porter + Bogusky, among others.

McAbee spent more than ten years in the United States Navy as a First Class Intelligence Specialist who served in the Persian Gulf War.  He received a degree in Business Administration and minor in Hotel Management from the University of Phoenix. Scott has traveled to over 100 countries and all 50 United States.
