of Melia Atlanta Hotel in Georgia

August 8, 2012 - Otto Svensson has been named the General Manager of Meliã Atlanta hotel. Otto brings over four decades of hotel experience and a commitment to excellence to his new role at Meliã Atlanta – a premier hotel in downtown Atlanta that combines deluxe accommodations, a myriad of amenities and exceptional service to create an unforgettable experience.

For almost 20 years Otto held several positions with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2003 Otto was named Vice President/Area General Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, where he had been the General Manager at the hotel for the three years prior. For ten years, Otto was also the Ritz-Carlton brand’s Vice President of Food and Beverage.

Otto joins Meliã Atlanta after six years with West Paces Hotel Group, whose portfolio includes Capella Hotels and Resorts. Horst Schulze, former CEO of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, personally selected Otto Svensson to join his team, as he became the Chairman and CEO Capella Hotels and Resorts.  Otto oversaw and operated several hotels while with Capella.

Otto Svensson was born in Kassel, Germany. His strong work ethic led him to a degree in Hotel Business Administration at the Hotel & Business School of Berlin. He then attended Aspen Institute at the University of Maryland where he enrolled in the Executive Leadership Program and sparked a keen passion for hospitality and hotel administration. Over his career, Otto has opened fifty hotels on six continents, during which he was responsible for the concept, development and success of each of the properties.

By providing unparalleled experiences for hotel guests, combined with superior service guidance, Otto has already excelled in influencing Meliã Atlanta’s operations and community. As General Manager, Otto will continue to exceed expectations and bring his intelligence, creativity and guidance to the Meliã Atlanta hotel.
