Cooperstown, N.Y. – August 3, 2012 – Jane Forbes Clark, President of the Leatherstocking Corporation, has announced the appointment of James C. Miles as General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of The Otesaga Resort Hotel/Cooper Inn, effective October 1, 2012. He is replacing John Irvin who is retiring after ten years as General Manager of the properties.
Mr. Miles joins The Otesaga/Cooper Inn following a distinguished career in the hospitality and resort management industry that has spanned forty years.
Most recently the Chief Executive Officer of Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, Mr. Miles served 13 years as Vice President of Hershey Resorts at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company in Hershey, Pennsylvania. At Hershey, he was executive-in-charge of the Hotel Hershey, a 278-room Four Star/Four Diamond resort; the 650-room Hershey Lodge; 10 restaurants; 125,000 square feet of conference space; the 314-site Hershey Highmeadow Campground; and the Hershey Golf Collection (63 holes of golf). Previously, Mr. Miles held a variety of roles with Colonial Williamsburg Hotel Properties, Inc. for 23 years, including eight years as Executive Vice President.
Mr. Miles holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the University of New Hampshire and completed The Executive Program at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. He and his wife Karen will reside in Cooperstown.
