Cool Hotel Pools: Many are Opening for Non-Guests with Special Events

Second in a Series - Las Vegas

Aug. 11, 2012--There is plenty of sizzling summer left for Southern Californians. Thankfully, many hotels are opening up pools with special events for non-hotel guests. In a four-part series, we're looking at some of the regional options open to the general public. Today, Las Vegas:

Summer pool parties are synonymous with Las Vegas, and Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel is where it all started. Although the festivities have expanded to a four-day weekend of pool party events, the original is still going strong on Sundays from 10 a.m. This party is packed with people, music, celebrity guests and adult beverages. Buy tickets in advance or rent a cabana for access. Cover prices vary (and is usually more for men), generally from $30-$50. 4455 Paradise Road, Las Vegas; (702) 693-5555, www.rehablv.com

The newer Encore Beach Club at the Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Hotel is also a popular pool party spot to see and be seen. This outdoor venue, with three tiered pools, features floating lily pads, shower dance areas, a gaming pavilion and luxury cabanas and bungalows for rent. Its weekly parties are Fridays through Sundays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with various DJs and special guests. A popular "off the Strip" event is Ditch Fridays at the Palms pool in the Palms Casino Resort. Its expansive outdoor pool playground features three bars, acres of pool space, and daybeds and cabanas for rental. Ditch Fridays features live DJ sets and takes place weekly from noon to 6 p.m. They have other weekly pool party events on Saturdays and Sundays. Cover charges from $25. 4321 W.
