Operating Officer
for The Wilderman Group announced the appointment of Emily McGeorge of
Gastonia, NC as Conference Planning Manager at the multi-use
30,000-square-foot conference center
in Gastonia, NC.According to Julius, “Emily’s solid background in hospitality is an asset to Gastonia Conference Center and to the Gastonia community. Her positive outlook and hands-on experience bring energy and enthusiasm to her important role at the conference center.” Her areas of expertise include hospitality management, meeting and event planning, and customer service excellence. A native of Gastonia, Emily received her B.S. in Hospitality Management from Western Carolina University and served an internship with Aramark Campus Services at Western Carolina University. She has also held positions as Catering Director with Aramark at Coastal Carolina University and has ten years of experience in hospitality with a concentration on event management and marketing coordination, and has designed and executed corporate social events of all sizes. Emily’s achievements include: Cater Source 2003 Certification, Building Leadership Skills Training Course, ARAMARK Class of 2002, New Manager Training-Pathways to Leadership. In her role as Conference Planning Manager, Emily is responsible for the planning and coordinating of all conference group related activities and acts as the primary liaison between the client and the staff of the property, with the focus on meeting and exceeding client expectations. She coordinates interdepartmental communications and directs client requests and requirements to all the appropriate departments based on contractual agreements for events such as meetings, social events, conferences, and seminars. She coordinates services for events, such as accommodations and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, conference technology, special needs requirements, printing and event security. Emily is an active member of the Junior League of Gaston County, and is a local volunteer at the Loray Girls Home, Taste of Gaston, the Gaston Memorial Hospital and the Gastonia Downtown Development Corporation. She is a member of the York Chester Neighborhood Association and The United Way. Emily and her husband Shawn are long-time residents of Gastonia and share an interest in traveling, cooking, baseball, football, gardening, and spending quality time with their families – and their dog Buffy.
