Tokyo, Japan and Chicago—June 21, 2012—MIWA Lock Company, Japan’s foremost provider of high-performance locks and security systems, announces a partnership and integration with the OpenWays Mobile Key front desk bypass solution. The partnership will bring OpenWays’ ubiquitous Crypto Acoustic Credential (CAC) platform to MIWA’s leading premium electronic locking systems and will be unveiled to the hotel industry at HITEC 2012, Baltimore June 26th-28th.

Mobile Key by OpenWays is the world’s leading solution that allows any of the world’s 6.2 billion mobile phones in service to act as a guest room key.  Hotel guests staying at a Mobile Key equipped hotel may simply use their mobile device (any smartphone or any mobile phone on any mobile phone network) to unlock their door safely and securely. This enables hotels to offer their guests the highly desired front desk bypass solution and a “not wait in line” guarantee.  Guests are provided simple instructions on their smart app or via text message on the day of their arrival with the room number allocated.  When they arrive, they can head straight to their room, follow the instructions and simply hold their phone to the lock. The phone earpiece produces a unique acoustic key that is interpreted by OpenWays’ Crypto Acoustic Credential ™ technology that assures a safe and secure door opening.

“MIWA is a recognized name in the locking industry and in the hospitality industry as providing very high quality, reliable and stylish solutions appealing to the high end of the hotel sector," said Pascal Metivier, Founder and CEO of OpenWays. "We welcome the opportunity to make available Mobile Key and Mobile Key Dual with Pure NFC to MIWA’s customers.”

MIWA is a true lock manufacturer and controls the quality of every aspect of every lock from start to finish.  This dedication to high quality products and emphasis on research and development has ensured its customers receive the most advanced technology and materials, combined with a strong ecological manufacturing process that has earned the company various environmental management certifications.

Commenting on the launch at HITEC, Chris Lawrence, Vice President of Sales, Miwa Lock Co. Ltd., said, “MIWA is known as an innovator, so it makes total sense to form a partnership with the leading provider of front desk bypass solutions, OpenWays.  With Mobile Key being compatible with every phone in the world today, we are excited to launch our new combined product at HITEC and look forward to bringing it to our leading global customer base.”

MIWA Lock was established in 1945 and produced its first hotel card lock system in 1980.  MIWA now has systems in most of the hotel brands around the globe as well as the finest unbranded properties. The company’s ALV2 RFID locks comprise a stylish and slim design that has been installed at some of the world’s leading hotels, including the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center in Arizona, the Beresford Hotel & Beresford Arms Hotel in San Francisco, the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo, and the Park Hyatt in China.
