Evolution Hospitality Hires David Martinez and Promotes Matt Raine, Both to
the Role of Executive Vice President, Investments and Business Development

Newport Beach, Calif. (June 5, 2012)
– Evolution Hospitality, a full-service hotel management company, today announced David Martinez has joined the company as Executive Vice President, investments and business development, effective immediately. In his new position Martinez will be instrumental in growing the company’s managed hotel portfolio through joint ventures and management contracts, in addition to taking a leadership role in evaluating broader strategic transactions and alignments. He will be based in the company’s corporate headquarters in Orange County.

Martinez is a fifteen-year hospitality industry veteran, having previously served in senior leadership positions at Tarsadia Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and ITT Sheraton Corporation. His background also includes experience in investment banking, serving recently as a Managing Director with Columbia West Capital LLC, and in business law, having served as an associate with Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz. David earned graduate degrees from the UCLA School of Law and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

“We have been overwhelmed with the industry response to Evolution Hospitality’s launch in early 2011 and have known for a while that we needed to add capacity to service the demand for our platform. Adding an executive of David’s caliber to the team is further evidence of our commitment to smart growth at Evolution,” said John Murphy, President.

Evolution Hospitality also announced the promotion of Matt Raine to Executive Vice President, investments and business development. One of Evolution Hospitality’s founding members, Matt most recently served as Senior Vice President of business development since its launch. Prior to joining the team Matt was Senior Vice President of Development for Hard Rock Hotel Holdings and a 10-year veteran of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with Matt’s contribution to Evolution Hospitality and are excited to announce his promotion. Under Matt’s business development leadership our annual managed revenue stream has grown by more than 50%, from approximately $130 million to greater than $200 million, in less than eighteen months. Matt and David have worked together previously; we are fully confident in their collective talents, the strong relationships they have built in the hospitality and investment communities, and their solid hotel business acumen. We know they will be great partners going forward in expanding Evolution’s reach and further growing the platform,” said Murphy.
