Extended Stay Hotels Appoints Thomas Seddon, Former Intercontinental Hotels
Group CMO, as Chief Marketing Officer

Charlotte, N.C. (April 4, 2012)
– Extended Stay Hotels® announces today the appointment of Thomas Seddon as Chief Marketing Officer – effective April 16, 2012 – reporting to Chief Executive Officer Jim Donald and filling a vacancy in that position.

From 2007-11, Mr. Seddon served as Chief Marketing Officer of Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), whose global portfolio includes the Intercontinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites® and Hotel Indigo® brands. During his tenure, IHG experienced revenue per room growth substantially above industry levels, successfully re-launched the Holiday Inn® brand with improved hotel facilities and service levels, and introduced enhancements to its reservations systems and loyalty program.

Mr. Seddon was Chief Executive Officer of the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund until 2007, serving the 25,000 restaurants in the world’s second largest quick service restaurant system. Prior to that, Mr. Seddon held various positions within IHG’s Americas operations – including Senior Vice President Americas Brand Performance and Senior Vice President Strategic Services – where in addition to overseeing award-winning marketing activities, he had direct responsibility over revenue management and all distribution channels, and played a pivotal role in the development and launch of the Hotel Indigo® brand.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Tom’s broad industry experience join the ESH team,” says Extended Stay Hotels Chief Executive Officer Jim Donald. “His proven track record in reinvigorating industry-leading hotel brands through facility and customer service enhancements, and helping to translate that into extraordinary revenue and profit growth at the hotels is directly applicable to our strategy at Extended Stay Hotels. Tom joins ESH at a very exciting time for the company and I am looking forward to his help in driving profitable growth across the company’s industry segment leading portfolio.”

Mr. Seddon added, “I look forward to joining Jim and the extraordinary team he is building, and am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the customers and employees of Extended Stay Hotels. I believe that my industry experience will allow me to help Extended Stay take full advantage of the extraordinary opportunity the company has with its well-located portfolio of renovated hotels, customer-oriented employees, and market leading position in a segment of the industry that will experience strong growth in the years ahead.”
