April 12, 2012, Hot Springs, Virginia - The Homestead has announced the appointment of Lynn Swann as Director of Marketing and Communications. Motivated, and experienced, Swann is responsible for promoting the amenities and recreational possibilities that await guests of the historic southern resort. Swann arrives at an exciting time as The Homestead recently launched a $25 million transformation, which will include Allegheny Springs, a sprawling, two-acre water attraction filled with family-friendly features including three water slides and a lazy river as well as a new miniature golf course opening this summer. Additional plans include a spa garden and new, innovative dining experiences. "With her impressive experience and profound knowledge of the region, we're excited to welcome Lynn to The Homestead. She will be an integral part of the team in helping us communicate the new chapter at The Homestead," said Peter Faraone, Managing Director of The Homestead. Prior to joining The Homestead, Swann served more than a dozen years as Manager and then Director of Public Relations at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. There, she oversaw all media relations and public relations efforts for the resort. During her time there, Swann earned impressive recognition including a "Stars of the Industry Award" from the West Virginia Division of Tourism in 2011, was named the 2010 Practitioner of the Year by the West Virginia chapter of PRSA and was the recipient of a Platinum Award for the 2007 HSMAI Adrian Awards. Previously, Swann spent eight years in advertising and marketing for Charleston Newspapers, departing as Marketing Manager in 1998. An active and engaged PR professional, she has lent her talent to organizations such as the Education Alliance and Historic Hotels of America as well as the Public Relations Society of America and Society of American Travel Writers. Swann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She resides in White Sulphur Springs, WV, where she is serving her third term on the White Sulphur Springs City Council.
