Deal of the Year Award from hospitality giant Hilton
Worldwide. The national award honors
Generation’s Home2 Suites at Charleston Airport/Convention
Center in North Charleston, South Carolina as
the best development of the Home2
Suites by Hilton brand last year. Generation was the
turnkey developer for the
project, handling
the site identification and acquisition, design, entitlements,
construction,
purchasing and
opening of the hotel, which was then sold to one of the industry’s top
institutional owners. This
was Generation's second consecutive award, after receiving an identical
award
in 2010 for development
of its Homewood Suites in Wilmington, N. C.Hilton lauded the speedy construction and quality of the project which was delivered on budget ahead of schedule. Generation went from breaking ground on the new hotel site on March 3, 2011 to welcoming guests on November 10th, 2011, making the North Charleston property the fastest Home2 Suites ever built: a record seven-and-a-half months for a process that typically takes a year. The award was presented at Generation’s annual investor’s meeting on February 9, 2012. Home2 Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport/Convention Center is an upper
mid-tier, 122-room
extended-stay hotel with a “hip and humble” design and decor.
