Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Adds Washington, D.C.'s Donovan House to Portfolio

San Francisco, CA, April 17, 2012 - Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced it has added the Donovan House, a boutique hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., to its roster of Kimpton-managed hotels and restaurants. The addition brings Kimpton’s total number of hotels in Washington, D.C. and the greater metropolitan area to 11.

Known for its sleek, urban design and popular rooftop pool and lounge area, the 193-room hotel is centrally located on Thomas Circle, providing easy access to Washington’s business district and also museums and the city’s vibrant nightlife scene. Donovan House is also home to acclaimed restaurant Zentan, whose celebrity chef Susur Lee has earned a devout following for his inventive, Asian-inspired cuisine.

Under the new Kimpton management, Donovan House will receive a light refresh to the interior spaces and rooftop bar area, while maintaining its upscale décor and luxurious amenities. These changes include new pillows and other touches that embody the warm elegance and style of Kimpton properties nationwide. The hotel will now offer best-loved Kimpton programs such as the hosted evening wine reception, animal print robes, Kimpton InTouch loyalty program perks, pet-friendly practices and Kimpton’s EarthCare program, which includes more than 100 eco-friendly operating practices. In addition, Kimpton will bring its legendary customer care, operational expertise and traditional involvement in the local community to the management of Donovan House.

“Washington, D.C. continues to be one of the most important and thriving markets for Kimpton, and Donovan House– with its metropolitan vibe and ideal location – is a perfect fit for the brand,” said Kimpton CEO Mike Depatie. “With the addition of this fantastic property, which happens to feature one of the liveliest Washington, D.C. restaurants and an unrivalled rooftop lounge, we are adding to the variety and diversity of our collection for avid Kimpton fans here.”
