News for the Hospitality Executive |
DALLAS – March 23, 2012 – VingCard
Elsafe, the global
leader in hospitality security and part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, has
announced that a technology
interface has been completed between its industry leading line of
contact-less Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) hotel
locking solutions and SKIDATA, an Austrian provider of
access-management and
ticketing solutions for ski resorts, airports, sports venues and
tourist
attractions.
Through the newly developed interface, SKIDATA’s FLEXSPACE RFID technology will now be integrated into VingCard’s complete range of RFID locking products, which includes Classic RFID, Signature RFID and Signature RFID Remotus designs. The proprietary SKIDATA RFID technology leverages high-frequency (HF) 13.56 MHz passive RFID tags complying with the ISO 15693 standard. VingCard’s RFID solutions operate on a secure open-platform system compatible with the three leading RFID ISO standards (ISO 14443A/MiFare, ISO 14443B, ISO 15693) and the new NFC transaction platform for cell phones. “As the global leader in electronic locking and access systems for the hotel industry, VingCard Elsafe is an ideal partner for us,” said Johannes Reschreiter, SKIDATA’s Supply Chain/Consumable Products Manager. “This new interface combines the power of two technology leaders and expands the scope of both solutions, providing significant added value to our mutual clients around the world.” The new VingCard Elsafe /SKIDATA interface provides multiple benefits for hotel operators and exceptional convenience for resort guests, allowing skiers to use their RFID-enabled ski pass as a key for their guestroom at surrounding hotels and resorts. RFID tags can also be embedded into alternative carriers, such as wristbands or lanyards, enabling easy access to all resort amenities. "We are committed to providing a seamless and secure experience for hotel and resort guests, and this interface with SKIDATA allows us to accomplish that, while also maximizing operational efficiency for the resort and surrounding hotel properties,” said Tim Shea, president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality. “RFID technology is now an industry standard, and VingCard Elsafe provides the most advanced and secure platform available. We will continue to integrate this game-changing technology into access solutions that meet the unique needs of specific sectors of the travel industry, such as ski resorts.” VingCard Elsafe introduced RFID locking technology in 2006, and has since installed more than half a million RFID locks at properties around the globe. Their industry leading solutions provide reliable security features, such as proprietary anti-cloning keycard technology. Other recently announced advancements include a newly optimized internal antenna, which increases reading speed by almost 50%, and a new platform that enables RFID locks to read keycards from more than twice as far. VingCard Elsafe is the world leader in developing locking systems, electronic in-room safes and energy management solutions for the hospitality industry, offering user-friendly systems that meet the unique operational needs of hotels and resorts.
