The Joule, Dallas in Texas Moves into Phase II of a Two-Year
Long $78 Million Renovation and Expansion

March 27, 2012 (Dallas, TX) - The Joule, Dallas now enters Phase II of a two-yearlong $78 million renovation and expansion, expected to be complete by Fall 2012.

The transformation of The Joule combines the talents of top hospitality designers, architects and seasoned consultants led by renowned interior designer Adam D. Tihany, whose vision of contemporary design in a historic setting refinished for the modern and savvy traveler will remain intact. ForrestPerkins, the Architect of Record, is coordinating the design and construction of this complex expansion and renovation. The project consists of multiple historic buildings and new building construction, as well as the existing Joule hotel. The diverse design team also includes Architexas, the historic preservation architect.

A MAIN STREET HERITAGE BRAND
The Joule will expand its hotel through three historic buildings. One, constructed in 1913 in a classical revival style was originally known as the Scholar Building. The second was originally a Salvation Army constructed in 1911. Lastly, the project includes Dallas' neo-gothic National Bank building in which the Joule currently resides.

LUXE REVIVAL
The Joule's room collection will add 29 new guest suites, one single-story penthouse and two three-story penthouses. Guest rooms designed by Tihany, will feature white oak furnishings, complimented by rich sapphire mohair seating and contrasting gold accents. Suites will take on a red scheme with deep red and brown leather lounge chairs complemented with bright yellow details. The penthouses will reveal themselves as ultra-luxe, contemporary takes on the city's social and creative scenes with a private terrace and color schemes ranging from Yves Klein blue and gold to lime and silver.

1927 BANK VAULT REIMAGINED AS SUBTERRANEAN STUDIO
The 16-foot ceilings and heavy slab walls of steel-reinforced concrete that once housed the underground vaults of the former Dallas National Bank offer the ideal enclosure for the room's ultimate reincarnation as a multi-faceted discotheque.  The 2,600 square foot space will incorporate a fully functional recording studio, 25-seat screening room, and private lounge complete with DJ booth and dance floor, all integrated by a sophisticated array of audiovisual features sure to impress even the most tech-savvy sybarite.

INTERNATIONAL R+R

The Joule will redefine the urban spa concept with a new 8,000 square-foot subterranean spa designed by Tihany Design, operated by ESPA. This will be the first ESPA spa in Texas and will offer six deluxe treatment rooms as well as an ice fountain, steam room, sauna, geothermal pool and "experience showers" for soothing therapies.

CHARLIE PALMER'S EPICUREAN EMPIRE
Celebrated Chef Charlie Palmer is expanding his downtown horizons with the introduction of "City Hall" - a farm fresh, urban eatery featuring dine-in and take-out options from five specialty gourmand stations. Drawing from regional small farms and producers, Chef Palmer and Executive Chef Michael Sindoni will serve seasonal fare - from the "daily catch" grilled over a live fire, to artisan pizzas baked in a blackened-steel wood burning oven, to Texas style BBQ favorites like brisket, chicken and pork. Through Tihany's designs, patrons will appreciate a convenient yet gourmet lunch and dinner experience in a casual chic, industrial setting with a 20-seat craft tequila cocktail bar serving as the convivial centerpiece.

EXPANSIVE RENDEZVOUS
The Joule's meetings and event space will nearly triple for a total of 14,000 square feet. All meeting and event space will be dressed up with sophisticated design details and Texas-style glamour, including magnificent custom chandeliers and a dramatic oversized exterior all-glass elevator designed to complement the cantilevered glass-front pool on the hotel roof. The elevator will escort guests directly to the new 5,000 square-foot rooftop terrace and garden.
