Four-star Luxury, History and Sustainability Blend to Create Memorable
Guest Experiences at Britain's Imperial Hotel

Melbourne, Australia March 28, 2012 – Elegance, excellence and environmental stewardship – those are the words that best describe The Imperial Hotel, Llandudno. Renowned for its exquisite Victorian façade, four-star accommodations, superior service and stunning views of Llandudno Bay, the Imperial is the largest quality seafront hotel in Northern Wales.

A well-regarded member of Classic British Hotels; Best Loved Hotels and Britain’s Finest—The Hotel Imperial is also one of the most eco-friendly—furnishing its 98 spacious en-suite bedrooms with Eco.Fresh®, a nourishing range of bath & body cosmetics by Concept Amenities, a leading global supplier of environmentally responsible guest amenities.

“Sustainability is hugely important to The Imperial Hotel. We initiated our environmental policy back in 1998, long before green issues were in fashion,” explains Public Relations Manager Pip Cockeram. “The hotel is fully committed to planet stewardship and our environment policy covers all facets of hotel operations from local produce and recycling through to water conservation and green electricity”.

“As active members of ‘Wales the True Taste,’ we take pride in using local, seasonal and market-fresh produce,” says Cockeram. “Meats we purchase have full traceability and the highest ethical criteria with regard to feed and rearing. All eggs, chickens and turkey used are free-range and pork is farm assured. Where possible we use organic produce. Our menus contain supplier assurances that all products are free of SM soya and maize products. We are also a staunch supporter of Fairtrade coffee.”

In terms of water conservation, The Imperial Hotel has installed meters that allow staff to measure water consumption and set targets for reduction. In addition, the hotel’s swimming pool is ozone treated, enabling less chlorine to be used which is safer for guests’ eyes and better for children.

The hotel also uses electricity that utilizes the natural energy flows of the earth – wind, solar, hydro, wave and tidal power. Bedrooms are equipped with key card controls that automatically switch off power supply to the room when not in use and all floors are fitted with sensors which switch on the lights when activated. Low energy light bulbs are used throughout the hotel wherever practical.

Plus, the hotel recycles paper, glass, cardboard, light bulbs, batteries and cooking oil for use as bio-fuel locally and it is currently sourcing recycling options for plastics. Overnight guests are encouraged to reuse towels, and all ink cartridges and toners are passed on to St. Kentigern Hospice and Palliative Care Centre in St. Asaph.

“Eco.Fresh® ticks all the right boxes for us with regard to personal care products,” says Cockeram. “They meet our guest-nurturing standards, satisfy our environmental policies with biodegradable packaging and ensure our four-star luxury hotel has a befitting range of products.”

With its invigorating, citrus-fragrant ingredients the complete Eco.Fresh range of guest amenity essentials are designed to cater to all personal needs. Liquids and soaps have been formulated with nourishing ingredients to maintain moisture for healthy skin and hair and are available in a variety of sizes allowing the option to select the right fit to suit your specific needs.

An environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of the hotel toiletries. All plastic packaging is recyclable and biodegrades in landfill; leaving nothing harmful to the environment behind.

“For nearly 30 years, we’ve been providing the hospitality industry with the best of both worlds – environmentally responsible products and amenities that entice and delight hotels guests,” says Michael Matulick, CEO at Concept Amenities. “We’re not just a supplier – we’re a trusted partner who plays an integral role in shaping our customers’ brand experiences and creating a wellness space for their guests. Whether its evocative new fragrances, sensual textures or vibrant packaging, we consider everything that can enhance our bath and body products to create unique and desirable experiences,” says Matulick.
