- The Seagate Hospitality Group, an independent hotel and resort management company, has named General Manager of The Seagate Hotel & Spa , William J. Sander III, to Executive Vice President and Director of Operations. In addition to continuing to oversee operations at The Seagate Hotel & Spa and the private Seagate Beach Club, Sander will be assisting in growing the company on a regional and national level by pursuing management contracts and partnerships, as well as adding additional properties to the company's portfolio.

"William spearheaded a successful launch of The Seagate Hotel & Spa in 2009, the only luxury boutique property in Delray Beach, as a seasoned professional with an esteemed reputation and extensive industry knowledge. We are thrilled to now have him direct the operations of our hotels and private beach club," said Tony Wilson, Chairman & President of Seagate Hospitality Group.

Opened in 2009 as an elegant and modernist 154-room property, under Sander's leadership, The Seagate Hotel & Spa has become an award-winning hotel with national honors including Condé Nast Traveler's "Top 200 Hotels in the U.S. in 2011," "Reader's Choice Awards 2011" and "2010 Hot List;" "Best of Weddings 2011" from The Knot magazine; "Best Kept Secret Getaways" from Travel + Leisure; and "Best Beach Stay" from Southern Living.

During his tenure, XV Beacon was repeatedly honored by the nation's top travel publications, including #1 Hotel in Boston by Travel + Leisure, a "Top 100 Best Hotels in the World" by Condé Nast Traveler and "Best Boutique Hotel in the World" by Robb Report after only being open one year and more.

Before XV Beacon, Sander served as Director of Room Operations at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and as Director of Food and Beverage at the Boston Harbor Hotel, where he hosted and operated the Boston Wine Festival, one of the country's premier vini-cultural events. He maintains a passion for wine, holds a spot on the board of Diderot, a North Carolina-based wine marketing company, and has achieved national awards from Wine Spectator for wine lists at various properties. Sander's other executive credentials include service at luxury properties including The Houstonian, Houston, Texas; Rosewood's Hotel Crescent Court, Dallas, Texas; and The Claremont Resort & Spa, Oakland, California.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Sander studied a career in hospitality at Connecticut's Manchester Community College and furthered his education at the University of Hartford. With his inherent passion for the industry, Sander is also on the Board of Benefactors at Salem State University's Hospitality Program, supporting mid-career professionals wishing to transition into hospitality as well as recent graduates eager to enhance their skills and expand their experience. He is an avid Corvette collector, owning four Corvettes, including a silver '67 and burgundy '74, as well as a blue and white '86 GT1 race car and a black '09.  He also maintains a life-long allegiance to the New York Yankees, despite his time in Boston and current address in Florida.
