Shangri-La Hotels Enters Agreement with Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani & Sons
Holding Company to Manage the 272-room Shangri-La Hotel, Doha
and the 238-room Traders Hotel, Doha

Both Hotels are Scheduled to Open in Doha, Qatar in 2013


February 2012 - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts signed an agreement with Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani & Sons Holding Company W.L.L to manage Shangri-La Hotel, Doha, as well as Traders Hotel, Doha. Both hotels are scheduled to open in 2013. The hotels will follow the introduction of their five sister properties in the region; Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai in July 2003, Traders Hotel, Dubai in July 2004, Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Muscat in February 2006, Shangri-La’s Qaryat Al Beri Hotel, Abu Dhabi in September 2007 and Trader’s Hotel Abu Dhabi in August 2009.

The five-star Shangri-La Hotel will be centrally located in the commercial heart of Doha, offering direct access to the prestigious shopping and entertainment of the Doha City center complex. Merely 300 meters away, the four-star Traders Hotel, Doha will cater to today’s business and leisure traveller, who is looking for simple, efficient, down to earth functionality.

Developed by Al Rayan Tourism Development Company W.L.L., Shangri-La Hotel, Doha will have 272 luxurious guest rooms (from 48 square metres/516 square feet to 75 square metres/807 square feet) including 46 suites (from 96 square meters/1033 square feet to 288 square meters/3100 square feet), 42 serviced apartments and an exclusive Horizon Club. A variety of restaurants include a lobby lounge, The Den – a piano bar, Sridan – a Middle Eastern food souk, a Latin American restaurant called Fuego, Yabby – a seafood restaurant and Shanghai Club – a Chinese restaurant / lounge. Recreation facilities include Shangri-La’s signature spa, CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, while meeting facilities feature a grand ballroom of 840 square metres and complementary function rooms. In addition, the hotel will have a helipad on the top floor of the building to accommodate the arrival of VIP guests.

Located nearby, Traders Hotel, Doha will offer 238 guest rooms (30-48 square meters/322-516 square feet) including 44 suites (50-78 square meters/538-839 square feet), Traders Club rooms and 84 serviced apartments with fully fitted kitchenettes. Restaurants include a sushi and noodle restaurant, steak house, outdoor terrace and a deli. A health club and spa with indoor swimming pool and sun deck round out the recreational offer.

Both hotels will offer Shangri-La’s customary free wireless LAN and high-speed internet access throughout the facilities and guestrooms.
