Mark David® Joins The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium (HSPC)

New York October 17, 2011 – The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium announced that Mark David has joined the Consortium as a Contributing Member.  Serving the professional interior designer and hospitality communities with classic, modern, casual, transitional, and outdoor custom furnishings, Mark David’s membership in the Consortium moves further toward establishing the new Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI) as the industry resource for sustainable purchasing.
 
With more than 4.5 million hotel rooms in the U.S., guest room furniture is a major investment for all hotels, brands and owners – and as a central element of design, it has a substantial impact on the guest experience and the environmental footprint of a hotel. 
 
“Serving primarily high-end markets in hospitality, resorts, country clubs and restaurants, we know that there is an increasing demand for sophisticated, luxurious furniture that also that meets fundamental parameters of sustainability,” said Blake Snow - Director, Sales and Marketing, Mark David. Twenty-four leading organizations are now part of the Consortium, including more than a dozen industry-leading suppliers, leading brands, architects, designers, purchasing firms, and sustainability consultants

The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium (HSPC), created and led by MindClick SGM™, is establishing the measures of sustainability performance for use in purchasing hotel products that will reduce the industry’s environmental impact, and contribute to guest comfort, health and well-being.
 
MindClick SGM will integrate the Consortium’s performance criteria into leading global sustainability standards and guidelines to create the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI). The Index will include measures of corporate social responsibility, environmental and product sustainability.  Initial product categories covered will include furnishings, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E).
