October 2011 - HSMAI is pleased to announce that
its President and CEO, Robert A. Gilbert has been presented the Miguel
Aleman Valdes Excellency in Tourism Award by the Miguel Aleman
Foundation. The foundation was established in 1984 by family members
and close friends of the former Mexican president and annually
recognizes an individual with the prestigious award for their critical
contributions in the development and enhancement of the tourism
industry in Mexico. While in Mexico City to accept the award last week,
Gilbert also delivered a keynote speech to more than 120 industry
leaders highlighting the top trends impacting hospitality sales and

Jean Berthelot, Vice President of the tourism board for the Fundación Miguel Aleman and permanent member of the advisory board Mexico City HSMAI Chapter, awarding Miguel Aleman Valdes Excellency in Tourism Award medal to HSMAI President and CEO Robert A. Gilbert. "Bob Gilbert was selected to receive this prestigious award by the Miguel Alemán Foundation thanks to the role that HSMAI Mexico has played in the national tourism industry and for the hard work in contributing to the professionalization of its members and others," said Dolores Avalos, HSMAI Mexico City Chapter president and director of public relations, InterContinental Hotels Group. In addition to recognizing Gilbert as this year's award recipient, the Miguel Aleman Foundation presented him with a diploma, silver medal and made a donation to the HSMAI Mexico chapter.
